Important — NASTF SDRM Security Validation (North America)
As part of an industry-wide effort to reduce vehicle theft, the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF) now requires Secure Data Release Model (SDRM) validation for key and immobilizer programming on aftermarket tools. Autel is rolling this out on the KM100 beginning September 1, 2026, with the MaxiIM IM508 and IM608 Series to follow in later phases.
What it means for you: to perform security-related functions — Add a Key, All Keys Lost (AKL), and Immobilizer functions — in North America, you'll need an active NASTF Vehicle Security Professional (VSP) credential. Everyday diagnostics and other tool functions are not affected, and this does not apply to Autel scan tools, TPMS, ADAS, or other product lines.
About the fee: the VSP credential is applied for and paid directly to NASTF and is valid for two years. This is a NASTF industry requirement — the fee is set and collected by NASTF, not by autel-us.com or Autel, and we receive no part of it. Current NASTF fees: $435 initial / $335 renewal (primary account); $250 initial / $150 renewal (sub-account). Amounts are set by NASTF and may change.
Act early: if you perform key or immobilizer work, we recommend applying for your NASTF VSP credential now — before the KM100 rollout on September 1, 2026 — so your service isn't interrupted when validation goes live.
